Frequently Asked Questions

ProImpact likens American higher ed to a large orchid where there’s row after row of apple, orange, peach, pear, pecan, olive, and pistachio trees with abundant growth on each tree. We get dropped in the middle of this orchard and the most important thing to do is know what’s available in this huge orchard and to decide which trees to start sampling – to find what we like. But to stress out about any one tree would be at waste of time.

The US has more large, prestigious universities than any other country, by a factor of five-to-ten! Also, the US has more high quality medium and small colleges than any other country, the runners-up aren’t even close. This is not to brag or pound our chest, it’s simply a fact and ProImpact reminds students to take a deep breath, relax, and enjoy the college admissions process – students are in a win-win situation.

Click on the link below and we will send you a list of our services.

First, ProImpact has long term experience from decades of work in Admissions at two leading universities. We’ve also volunteered for years with 1st generation students helping them get into college, win scholarships, and develop game plans to graduate in four years. Finally, we’ve put our own children through college during the past ten years and have practical experience with FAFSA, scholarships, and all aspects of college life.

Next, ProImpact provides college admissions mentorship in the most convenient and cost-effective ways possible. We created an online course that students can access anytime, anywhere on the most secure and reliable platform available. This course is packed with insider tips and strategies that will best position you for acceptance to your top choice school(s). We also offer a four-week live Mentorship Class online, the next one will be held June 28, July 5, July 12, & July 19 at 6:00pm PT. Sign-up is above on our home page.

Finally, ProImpact offers 1-on-1 Coaching and we conduct sessions with students or student & parent(s) on a variety of topics from college selection, to major exploration, to essay strategy, and financial aid. We can also customize coaching sessions according to a student’s circumstances.

Students can access the program from any connected device and can view their course as often as they like. Students receive instruction on eight aspects of admissions and are asked to complete a self-evaluation form as they progress through the course. Students can use the evaluation form to track their progress and can also share their evaluation form with their college counselor during the 1st meeting in the Fall. Each course includes two proprietary sortable lists of colleges (Top 300 Colleges and 450 Best Affordable and Small Colleges). Every student that enrolls also receives a current and vetted list of approximately 300 scholarships each month.

ProImpact created the online course to provide the best college counseling content, in the most user friendly way, at the most cost-effective price possible.

ProImpact created the Top 300 Colleges list over a two-year period of research into American colleges. The list consists of what ProImpact considers the top echelon colleges in the US and can be sorted by enrollment, geographic location, and affiliation. 1st GEN students can consider the Top 300 list as the colleges most likely to grant full scholarships.

The list of the best 450 Affordable and Small Colleges includes a good deal of information about tuition and room & board costs so students seeking a more affordable approach to college can explore colleges in this list as good options. This list is also valuable to 1st GEN students (and other students), because many of these schools award scholarships too.

ProImpact Group suggests students use these lists to identify prospective colleges and then do deep dives into the schools’ websites. Learning as much as possible about a school you’re applying to, and demonstrating your knowledge, is an important step in the admissions process.

ProImpact’s researchers compile lists of viable scholarships on an ongoing basis. On approximately the 20th of each month, the lists are posted and students who’ve enrolled in either the Online Course or the Live 4-Week Online Mentorship Seminar get access to the lists for four months. Students that sign up for 1-on-1 Coaching get one month’s free access to the scholarship list for every Coaching session they book.

When ProImpact posts a new list on July 20, 2023, for example, the list will include approximately 300 scholarships all with deadlines sometime in August. Most scholarships are for $1000, $2500, $3000, or $5000. ProImpact creates the lists so they can be sorted by subject matter or other purposes, this allows students interested in computer science to quickly identify all scholarships designed for IT majors.

The founder of ProImpact conducts online, live mentorship courses which consists of four sessions which last 45 minutes, followed by Q&A to allow students to ask questions. The sessions cover the following topics:

  1. Selecting a Major and Evaluating Colleges
  2. Communicating with Colleges – 10 ways to increase your chances of getting accepted.
  3. The Application – college essay strategies
  4. Financing College – Federal & state aid programs; school financial aid, outside scholarships; creative approaches to paying for college; budgeting.

There is an online community session for students to gather, ask questions and network with other students several days after each session. Join ProImpact's student community to get updates on all ProImpact college admissions activities.

Christopher S.

"I ranked 24th in my class with a passion for international affairs. ProImpact suggested I apply to George Washington University and I was awarded a scholarship that made it easier for me to swing four years of college. The strategies in Authentic U helped make my college admissions effort super successful, I even used something I learned from ProImpact that helped me get an additional scholarship my sophomore year that helped me get through a tough period."

Jane S.

"In 1-on-1 coaching with ProImpact it was suggested I attend summer camps for theater and the relationships I made at a summer camp helped get me into Boston University that has a top 5 ranked fine arts program in the country. Also, Authentic U's emphasis on finding the right college fit for me, rather than stressing out about the admissions process was just what I needed."

Roman L.

"I am a 1st GEN student and got rejected in my early admissions application to Rice University and for a Quest Bridge Scholarship, then I started in the 1st GEN -StarScholar Program. What followed was amazing, I got accepted with scholarships to UC Berkeley and USC and also won an Amazon Futures Scholarship. I also benefited from ProImpact's ongoing support to help me succeed in my first year in college. I am thriving with ProImpact's help."
